Yes please!

This brings e.g.:

  * Inline images
  * Rich formatting
  * Hyperlinking
  * A self-hosted search
  * Easy reading of message threads
  * Accessibility of older posts for new users
  * Editing of posts
  * Low barrier of entrance
  * No leakage of mail addresses
  * Good public search engine indexing
  * Seeing new messages only if you want to, not directly to your inbox
  * More options for categorisation of posts
  * Modern interface
  * RSS feeds

Having a modern forum might lead to more people participating on the
open web as opposed to Telegram and Facebook groups, LinkedIn etc.

It could foster an actual online community as well, where people share
images of their projects, talk about offline meetings and share photos, etc.

Cheers, Hannes
