Google for ogr2ogr as part of the gdal library. Here is an example
ogr2ogr -nlt POINT -f "PostgreSQL" PG:"dbname=DB user=xxxx password=xxxxx host=localhost port=5432" shapefile.shp

Subject: [OSGeo Africa] Importing Data into Postgresql
Hi,
Good day. I can't import data into Postgresql after many attempts.
I'm sure i'm missing something. I tried to follow the steps on wiki AfricaEvents29November2008 but to no avail.
I'm using Windows Xp.
Regards,
Losso
PS: I'm missed the first part of the Workshop.
