DEPARTMENT OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND LAND REFORM
 
 
POST                         :        CONTROL GISc TECHNOLOGIST
(EXTERNAL CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES) (Reference: S8/3/2014/368)
 
SALARY                    :        R507 960 per annum (OSD) (Salary in
accordance with OSD) ... cost to company
 
CENTRE                    :        DIRECTORATE: NATIONAL SPATIAL
INFORMATION FRAMEWORK: PRETORIA
 
REQUIREMENTS     :        *A B. degree in Geo-spatial Information
Science. * Registration with SA Council for Professional and Technical
Surveyors as GISc Technologist. *At least 6 years of appropriate
post-qualification. *Excellent computer literacy. *Excellent
communication skills. *Valid driver’s licence.
 
DUTIES                     :        *The incumbent will be required to:
provide support to organs of State in geo-spatial information
management. *Promote awareness among stakeholders of the provisions of
the SDI Act and the SA Spatial Data Infrastructure. *Provide support to
the Committee for Spatial Information. *Undertake compliance auditing.
*Supervise junior employees.

POST                         :        CHIEF GISc PROFESSIONAL (SPATIAL
INFORMATION AND SUPPORT) (Reference: S8/3/2014/367)
 
SALARY                    :        R607 338 per annum (OSD) (Salary in
accordance with the OSD) .........cost to company
 
CENTRE                    :        DIRECTORATE: NATIONAL SPATIAL
INFORMATION FRAMEWORK: PRETORIA
 
REQUIREMENTS     :        *4-year professional B. degree in Geo-spatial
Information Science. * Rregistration with SA Council for Professional
and Technical Surveyors as a Professional GISc Practitioner. *At least 6
years of appropriate post-qualification experience. *Knowledge of and
experience in metadata geo-portals. *Knowledge of and experience in
geo-spatial web programming. *Knowledge of and experience in project
management. *Good communication skills. *Good computer skills. *Valid
driver’s licence.
 
DUTIES                     :        *The incumbent will be required to:
*Provide an operational geo-portal for discovering geo-spatial
information. *Harvest metadata from data custodians. *Provide
geo-spatial information services. *Provide professional advisory and
support services. *Undertake relevant research and development.
*Supervise staff.
