Have you got the latest OpenLayers version installed? I have version:
1.3.3 and it works fine for me on QGIS 2.4 and master.
Can you try with a blank project in 2.4 adding e.g the OL google layer
- - i.e. determine if it is the plugin on its own that is causing QGIS
to hang, or a side-effect of using the OL plugin in tandem with some
other layers.
