[OSGeo-Announce] GEOS Enters OSGeo Incubation

The OSGeo Board is pleased to announce that it has approved the application
by the GEOS project to enter the incubation process. Incubation is a
stepping stone to becoming a full fledged OSGeo project.

GEOS (Geometry Engine - Open Source) is a C++ port of the Java Topology Suite 
(JTS). As such, it aims to contain the complete functionality of JTS in C++. 
This includes all the OpenGIS "Simple Features for SQL" spatial predicate 
functions and spatial operators, as well as specific JTS topology functions 
such as IsValid().

GEOS is used by the PostGIS, MapServer, MapGuide, and GDAL/OGR projects for 
geometry processing.
