IT SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT  ( $83,187 - $89,828 ) [1 position]
Level: EL1 	Ref: 11268 	Status: Ongoing

The Climate and Oceans Branch of the Bureau of Meteorology is seeking an experienced IT Solutions Architect with qualifications and significant experience in both IT and Spatial disciplines to assist in the effective management of IT resources. An understanding of the basics of Enterprise Architecture would be an advantage, but is not essential. The ideal applicant will have very broad IT and spatial skills, with significant exposure to a wide range of spatial data management and dissemination issues. These would include data quality, licensing and metadata issues relating to vector, raster, grid, tabular and other aspatial data. Exposure to a range of server based spatial technologies including proprietary and Open Source will be well regarded. As will a good understanding of spatial open standards, particularly OGC and ISO 19100 series standards. This position would suit an applicant with outstanding communication skills, who has a high degree of initiative and is able to function without the support of a fully resourced Project Office and supporting processes. Qualifications admitting to the Australian Computer Society at the grade of member are highly desirable. Technical skills in web development, Java, Linux, RDBMS and Spatial will be well regarded.
