With apologies for cross-posting to several relevant lists:

The School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Newcastle University, UK seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Geodesy, from 1st August 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. Outstanding candidates from all areas of science- or engineering-oriented geodesy ("higher geodesy") will be considered, although we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in the Earth's gravity field, satellite orbit modelling, satellite radar or laser altimetry, or other aspects of physical/geophysical geodesy who will complement our existing strengths in GNSS geodesy, Synthetic Aperture Radar interferometry, and geodetic remote sensing.

The Geomatics Group at Newcastle has a strong track record of RCUK funded collaborative research projects with national/international groups including membership of the NERC Centre for the Observation and Modelling of Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tectonics (COMET+), as well as with the University's Centre for Earth Systems Engineering Research and the School's Water Resources, Geotechnical, Structures and Transport engineering research groups. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other researchers at Newcastle and at other UK and international institutions.

Candidates should have a proven research record in terms of publications and a relevant PhD (or equivalent), and proven or potential achievements in terms of research funding and international esteem. The appointee will contribute modules to our geomatics undergraduate programmes which may include residential field courses.
