Thank you for your mail Moritz,
Scanning trough your mail, I think a first step should be to find out
how we could help each other in reaching out.
I suggest we organise a skype call between the organiser of the event
and OSGeo, so we can explain to each other what are our driving forces
behind our organsation/event.
>From there we can find out what could be the next steps and if OSGeo can
help in any way.
I think it is important to explain the Geo4all initiative, OSGeo and OSM.
I can try to be that liaison person between OSGeo Belgium and them if no
other volunteer stands up.
By the way, I attended the EU meeting last week about "Europe Call ICT
standards".
There where more than 60 people attending the web-conference, which
indicates the importance of the event. There was a presentation, which I
will receive and distribute to OSGeo (Europe?). It was to early for me
to ask questions on behalf of OSGeo, because we (OSGeo Europe) should
first find out what the initiative is all about, but I will certainly do
a follow up.
Since the Foss4G conference I was a bit busy with other non OSGeo
things, but know I am preparing a first OSGeo Europe event in Rotterdam
on May 24. We have the opportunity to be a supporting organisation for
the Geospatial World Forum (just like OGC is already and a lot of other
organisations). As I indicated in a previous mail, we have the
opportunity to organise a site event on behalf of OSGeo. I just have to
activate the different local chapters willing to take part in that
organisation. The most important tasks are organising a call for papers,
presenting OSGeo/OSM to the Geospatial World public and write some press
articles.
I hope to find time this week for further preparation and finding
supporters.
If anybody from OSGeo Belgium has idea's or want to help, please feel
free to jump in.
