We are collecting FOSS4G lessons learned as we go through the conference
planning, and I've just added a few words about Benchmarking.

I encourage participants to add to my comments as you go.
---
The WMS Shootout is a presentation comparing different WMS (and WFS?)
implementations.
* It was proposed as a Abstract, and was ranked by the community as
the most popular presentation, and so was moved to the closing
plenary session (in front of everyone, instead of within one of
the steams).
* While the Shootout was mentioned in early marketing, hoping that
it would indeed be presented again in 2009, it would have been
better to plan for the Shootout much earlier. Ideally this should
become a permanent fixture of FOSS4G events, with a carry over of
experience from year to year. This will allow it to be included
more prominently in early FOSS4G marketing material as a FOSS4G
drawcard. It can also be slotted into the program right from the
start.
