[Board] So what is the purpose of OSGeo?

I have been learning from the openstreetmap-talk-legal list how
counterproductive it can be to produce hypotheticals in support of
one or another "position", with no objective means of grounding them.

Tyler, it's part of your job description to keep the Board informed 
of the needs and focus of the community and its projects, and to
improve communication between us. Try to help, rather than cast light
on how some of our collective judgement maybe "ends up sounding" to you?
