Chris thanks for bringing this up. I feel strongly that we need a full
day for this meeting in Barcelona. At last year's Sydney event we only
did an informal dinner, but on a separate day most of the Board members
ended up meeting with Lorenzo in a conference room and helped his
committee deal with the conference company contract (there will be
similar needs this year for 2011 I imagine). So, I could easily see us
filling up a day in Barcelona.
I recommend having this meeting the day after the event finishes; for
example, after the Sydney event finished a few of the board members met
for an extended breakfast (Arnulf, Tyler, Jeroen, myself) and honestly
we had great discussions, as we were able to relax and discuss freely (I
am incoherent before these events, with too much to prepare, to really
relax and open up freely in a discussion). So to me we must have this
meeting after the dust settles.
I also feel that we should make attendance mandatory for this meeting,
and start planning accordingly.
