[Board] A couple articles and books

Hi board, here are a couple articles that touched on some topics I
thought might be of interest to you.

The forwarded email is one talking about how a grant writer "assesses" a
nonprofit organisation to see if they are well prepared to pursue
grants. I thought the mention of 501c3 might help answer some questions
that were raised earlier about "why" bother to do it.

The attached PDF gives some ideas and examples of the challenges around
creating a strategic plan. Not a ton of information there, but it
reminded me of the last fundraising meeting we had - where we were much
more able to brainstorm ideas than we were during the highly structure
regular board meetings. I hope we can do another one once I've got
these 501c3 and tax filing items wrapped up.

I'm going through a couple useful books on nonprofit management that you
might also find interesting. If you'd like me to order you one, let me
know:

* Managing the Nonprofit Organization - Principles and Practices, by
Peter F. Drucker (timeless and practical advice and examples)
* The Nonprofit Leadership Team: Building the Board-ED Partnership,
Fisher Howe, just starting but looks promising

Hope you're well,
Tyler
