Please also try to provide a way to integrate local chapters into that. 
Local chapter members are often disconnected from the international 
OSGoe and don't feel they belong in the global OSGeo member list, but we 
all know they do. So if there was a way local chapters could have a 
portal in this membership system, you could try to encourage the local 
chapters to manage their members, or feed them into this system... and 
then get an even bigger picture of OSGeo membership around the world.
