[Board] Request for OSGeo Budget 2018

Thanks Jody, I need some time because currently I'm in China as visiting at the National Geomatics Center of China where I had the opportunity of presenting also OSGeo and GeoForAll (I'm experiencing a lot of interest for us!!!). Thank you also for having uploaded my presentation in slideshare [1]. Unfortunately it was not possible with me . Today I attended a forum with more than 2000 delegates and spoke with some of them about OSGeo ;-).

I will be back next week and I can start working on the UN budget then (probably at the end of the week).

Meanwhile, if somebody is interested in the UN Committee activities, please contact me directly.

Maria the marketing committee asked this last year also so we had a chance to think through it.
- any fundraising done (for example OpenLayers and Travel Grant program) can be brought forward
- budget is just a budget ... your committee is giving us an idea of what it wants to spend in a year.

So if you have plans to spend more in 2018 please proceed with planning and write down a total amount. If I remember it was tricky with the UN as a partner as they are not in position to fund joint activities (being used to working with vendors). We can also list any sponsorship opportunities, as was done last year, but that also requires a bit of work on behalf of the committee.

If possible we will ask the same as last year. As we were not able in 2017 to organize the hackathon (for many reasons, for instance the fact that the project was probably not enough mature), I want to ask if it is possible to add the money we are saving in 2017 in the 2018 budget.  We will try again to organize the hackathon, this time starting earlier.

Dear fellow member,

I am reaching you (on bcc) because you are the official contact of one of the commitees of OSGeo: http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation/board_and_officers.html

We are trying to collect the budget requests for each commitee before the next board meeting (21st of November) to make sure we can approve them before the start of the year. If your commitee has any request for budget for 2018, this is the time and place to do so.

To send it, you can either answer this email or send the budget directly to the board mailing list. Either way, it will end up in the board mailing list.

At this moment (next two weeks) it doesn't have to be very detailed (although it will help us). We just need to know your plans for next year to make sure we can allocate money for all of our needs. And if we can't, we need to discuss priorities.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Please, contact your fellow commitee members to make sure nothing important is missing on your budget request.
