All,
Per Jodys suggestion below, I’m moving this thread about requesting a partnering agreement be be set up between OSGeo and GITA-SharedGeo. Not sure if this should be considered two different requests or just one. Both organizations are long time supporters of OSGeo in their own right.
The desire to promote the OSGeo organization at the upcoming GITA conference (www.gitasw.org<http://www.gitasw.org>) has inspired this request. There is also an upcoming SharedGeo sponsored conference (www.umgeocon.org/<http://umgeocon.org/>) that will be heavy on the OSGeo influcene in it’s presentations. Both of these events would benefit as well as OSGeo. There will also be more OSGeo influenced events in the future.
What’s the process moving forward for setting up a partnering/sharing agreement? This will make future advocacy of OSGeo much more streamlined in the future for GITA and SharedGeo
Thanks
bobb

Please ask on the board list, we can make a description of the organization and add it to the website.

Bob we do have a spot for unsigned but proactive partners - we call them friends :)
If you are interested let's approach the board, with the information you provided here, and set up a page for GITA (highlighting the good work, and open source advocacy) they do.

All,
Recieved this from the GITA admin conference contact:
Jody and Cameron,
Thank you for the assistance. Per your question: “Q: Does GITA have a partner relationship with OSGeo?”
GITA does not have an MOU or similar in place with OSGeo. However,
* GITA ran FOSS4G in Denver,
* SharedGeo runs all of GITA’s operations (we are the entity behind the curtain),
* SharedGeo was the operational hosting organization for FOSS4G-NA Minneapolis, and
* As you are probably aware, SharedGeo is one of the prime supporters of the OSGeo GeoMoose project, last coordinating a $60,000 upgrade which resulted in GeoMoose 3.0.
So going forward I hope you will think of the GITA-SharedGeo team as an unsigned, but very proactive partner. We would very much like to officially promote OSGeo Live at the GITA Phoenix Conference: www.gitasw.org<http://www.gitasw.org/>. As such, the presentation by Bob, and the USNG track which follow will be open to the public for free.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks

Bob, if ok with you, would you mind CCing this thread to live-demo <live-demo at lists.osgeo.org><mailto:live-demo at lists.osgeo.org>.
I like Jody's idea of a news item. I suggest draft it up a joint OSGeo-Live/GITA press release at: https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OSGeoLive#Press_Releases
You could add a quote from GITA. Get a quote from one of the <big title> people at OSGeo Live to add legitimacy.
"Angelos Tzotsos, chair of OSGeo Live and vice president of the OSGeo Foundation said ..." (assuming ok with Angelos)
The press release can include an endorsement of the speaker's involvement with OSGeo-Live as an authoritative contributor.
Cheers, Cameron

Quickest way is to get a thumbs up for OSGeo Live team, and ask them to make a blog post (https://www.osgeo.org/foundation-news/). Which is a good idea in any case.
You could also add the date to the OSGeo events: http://osgeo.org/events/
Q: Does GITA have a partner relationship with OSGeo?

You two,
I’m doing the OSGeo Live, Lighting Presentation here next month:
https://gitasw.org/lightning-overview-of-the-best-geospatial-open-source/
And the organizers want to play up the OSGeo angle a bit more, what’s the quickest way to get official recognition / permission to say that OSGeo is advocating for the presentation? The organizers want to send out a promotional blast in a few days. If it makes any difference, we’re planning to also hand out preconfigured USBs at the event to each attendee.
Thanks
