can
certainly help with that if we agree on a 2017 date."

What do you guys think about a date of Saturday, February 11th, 2017?

David wrote: "Also, I do support work for the BayGeo board, so I can easily
setup
intros, etc for broadening the audience."

That would be great. I can help put together a 1 or 2 page PDF announcement
and a post on our web site once we have the details hammered out.

David wrote: "Having a 20-person meeting
with talks is very much different than having a 60-120 person meetup.
Both have their place, but understanding our intent will help answer
other questions."

I'm pretty flexible on this, but I get nervous about being super ambitious.
:]

Michelle wrote: "A former student of mine particularly asked if we could
find a way to include more women and people of color. I also would like to
see that happen. I think we can start by making sure we advertise the
event to as wide an audience (including CSU and community college campuses)
and we can and to approach potential speakers who will help diversify our
audience. Diversity in gender, race, and field of employment is important."

Agreed. I'm tired of always having to eat lunch with Alex and Ragi. :P

Michelle wrote: "In terms of a QGIS plugin development workshop or talk, I
have done it (see my talk from last year) but I would rather not have to
put a workshop together since my experience is limited. Who can we ask
who's a pro?"

I seem to remember Jeff Hobbs being pretty handy with QGIS. I think he
set-up a custom little interface for the program for his out-of-state
office. What do you think about teaching some QGIS plug-in development for
us Jeff?

Michelle wrote: "Normally we have talks and then some kind of group
learning - either an unconference or code/cartography sprint."

What about getting a group of volunteers together after lunch to tackle a
Humanitarian Open Street Map task?
