Hi California OSGeo people!
I don't know how to start this email... hope you're well... things are weird right now... it's sad that FOSS4G is cancelled this year... ?  Sigh.

I'll just jump in.  Here's what I'm thinking: no one can get together in the same physical space right now, but maybe we can use that to our advantage as a group that is so geographically spread out that we never really see each other anyway.  Maybe now's a good time to plan a virtual event for our chapter.  This could be a good way to expand our membership and do some good in the world at the same time.  We wouldn't have to do it ourselves.  I think there's potential to pull in other California-based organizations and companies - #maptimeDavis, #maptimeSF, Guerilla Mapping, Planet, Stamen, and Mapbox come to mind from up here in Nor Cal.  I'm thinking we'd plan for August or September.

What do you think?  Are you interested in participating in an online event/conference/gathering?  Who among us can talk about what they've been working on?  Who do you have contacts with that might want to help or present?  Let's discuss!
