[Carto] MapFish server print component (was Re: [SoC] Mentoring - Cartographic Library Project)

Hi, Just making your good reply into the new list, for something to  
talk about :)

That is a really nice printing module, the ext2 integration is really  
great to see - good job!  I especially like the multi-print option.

A few questions...
* Can it support saving vectors into the PDF?  I assume "no" since I  
guess it is based on MapServer's PDF output.
* Why are there limitations to the resolution?  Is it because of a  
fixed sized page or some back-end limitation?  I'm interested in  
getting up to 600 or at least 300 DPI at some point, so having your  
input on how you came up with your options would be interesting.
* Have you considered how to handle rendering the print job when you  
have a WMS layer that needs to be tiled to get higher resolution  
detail?  If that question makes sense!

I'm going to do up a diagram of some of the ideas for modules or  
workflow that are on my mind.  Do you have anything for the MapFish  
module already?
