Brazilian MapServer conference committee.  As per their request, I have 
started to spread the word of their conference (updated MapServer 
conference page, sent email to news_item at osgeo.org, and announce 
messages to the discuss and MapServer-users lists.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunatelly I have to run after financial
support for the lab, so some tasks remain in the last priority level...
forgive-me. I have hired a student that speaks english fluently and she 
will
fill up all the requested information.

Regarding the III Brazilian MapServer User's Meeting
(http://www.univali.br/elis2/enum07/), we have decided to use it to slowly
turn MapServer User's towards OSGeo. Things are not so fast in Brazil 
and if
we had decided to have an OSGeo meeting instead, it would probably be a
disaster. Therefore, our idea is to "seed" OSGeo in 2007, and crop it in
2008, when we would apply to host the FOSS4G 2008. With enough time to get
sponsors.

Our strategy is already set, so we have invited Tyler as OSGeo
representative, and Tom Kralidis to introduce OGC concepts to our audience.
Both will have their expenses covered. We are considering to have 2 other
international keynote speakers. Unfortunatelly, we haven't got fanancial
support... yet... If you can be of any halep in this matter, we would
appreciate.

Well, that's pretty much what we are planning. Can you please annouce on 
the
OSGeo website and spread the word?!
