Re Venka's point i:
i) Close coordination with Local Organizers and OSGeo conference
  Committee would be necessary in SA, considering the fact that
OSGeo crowd in SA is not as big as it is in Europe and North America.
We need to have an "International Committee" including all members of
the OSGeo Conference Committee (and more) and not just some
a few "OSGeo Representatives" as we did in FOSS4G2007.

Anyone with an interest in FOSS4G2008 organisation is welcome to join
our LOC mailing list: http://groups.google.com/group/gissaconf2008. The
core LOC have voting rights but others on the list are welcome to lurk
or speak up. If you are willing to contribute and be active you'd be
welcome as a voting member. 

We are waiting for a page like this
(http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/FOSS4G_2007_Governance) to be published
for the current committee.
