Looking back too, I remember the Installfest that was held in
FOSS4G-2004 in Bangkok [1] using pre-packaged Linux distribution that
included GRASS/MapServer and related stuff.

"GISIX - a live Linux platform for FOSS GIS" [2] was also presented
and demonstrated by Peter Loewe and Markus Neteler.
