Dear Tatiana,

Thank you for your message. OSGeo has a policy of rotating the conference around the world:
one year in Europe;
one year in North America;
one year the rest of the world.

As I mentioned in my reply to Maria, this year should be the turn of North America. However, as it happened last year, this is not necessarily a hard rule and the Conference Committee, based on solid arguments, can modify the geographical cycles/rules. I'm totally open to such discussion. However, Committee members should also take in consideration that the conference is the main financial vehicle of OSGeo and, historically, the editions that make an important profit are usually happening in North America/Europe. Of course, this is not something that smart LOC from other parts of the world cannot overcome and make financial feasible and profitable conferences. All points of view are welcome.
