Hi,

international geocoder tool.
We just have to admit that we can't make one tool for each and every
address system in the world.
But geocoding is nothing more than just address string parsing and
having it parsed to a set of address entities just match it with
particular fields and geometry from the data set.
My idea is to use syntax and lexical analysis tools (the same we use
for making compilers) and set of rules (grammar) for each address
system, which we can call a plugin for the geocoding engine.
It means that most of work would be transfered from core engine
developers to plugin developers. It is also a perfect task to split to
local communities - to develop a plugin for a local address system
according to the main engine specification.
Anton.
P.S. Andrew, indeed, it would be nice to separate mailing lists.
