Dear all,

by means of this post I would like to obtain some ideas for a project to be
realised by me.
In particular im interested in ideas for the choice of technology.

The project is a viewer for mainly a set of large grids with some base maps.
Additionally it should be possible to perform simple on-the-fly analysis.

In short the requirements are:
- easy to use standalone and portable application (offline use at a standard
windows machine)
- fast displaying of multiple grids at different scales
- point identification of grid values
- fast on the fly summation of a selection grid (for specific AOI; summing
the complete extents would take too long)
* grids have varying extent and cell-size

My idea is to use existing solutions which can be tuned, im thinking of a
viewer (standalone or offline browser application) in combination with a
calculation backend (GDAL?)

Thanks in avance for your help!

Laurens
