Abstract Submission deadline - 28 Feb 2011


 The Centre for Geospatial Science , the UK Chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo:UK) , The GNSS Research and Application Centre for Excellence (GRACE) and the ICA Working Group on Open Source Geospatial Technologies are organizing the Third Open Source GIS UK Conference on 21st & 22nd June, 2011 at CGS, University of Nottingham.

The conference has an international focus and a holistic outlook, bringing together speakers and delegates from government, academic, industry, software developers, open source communities and geospatial researchers. High profile speakers from all over the world will be giving presentations and hands-on workshops. We are particularly pleased to announce that OSGIS 2011 Keynote address will be delivered by Professor Thierry Badard (Laval University, Canada).

The key aims of OSGIS conference series are:

1. to provide a platform for presentations from government, academic, industry and policy makers on open source, open standards and open data geospatial technologies;
2. to provide a venue to network and develop ideas for future collaborative work in open source GIS;
3. to understand current developments in open source, open standards and open data;
4. to act as a focus for open source, open standards, open data GIS research.

Contributions are invited in but are not limited to the following topic areas:

o  State of the Art developments in Open Source GIS
o  Open Source GIS in Education
o  Interoperability and standards - OGC, ISO/TC 211
o  Open Source GIS application use cases : Government, Participatory
GIS, Location based services, Health, Energy, Water, Climate change, etc.
o  Web processing services
o  Open architectures, open content, open data
o  Case studies of open source implementations
o  Open Source GIS Internationalisation and Localisation
o  Using Open Source GIS with proprietary software
o  Transition to Open Source GIS
o  Open Source GIS business models
o  Open Source GIS implementation and deployment case studies
o  Sensor Web enablement
o  Hands-on workshops on using and developing open source GIS tools

Abstracts (max 1500 words) are be submitted to before 28 February 2011 to Suchith.Anand at nottingham.ac.uk<mailto:Suchith.Anand at nottingham.ac.uk>   with subject header OSGIS 2011. The conference registration will be activated on March 2011. In order to reserve your place, please register online.
