The Mapbender development team has released Mapbender version 4.0.0 on
26 June 2024. Thanks a lot to all people involved.
The new version is a major release with numerous new features, a revised
design and bug fixes.
Existing Mapbender installations can be updated to version 4.0.0 without
any problems.
The built package can be found at [1] and the version 4.0.0 tag at [2].

Docker
-------
Docker integration has been added see PR125 [6]. The Mapbender project
now also provides dockerHub images [7].

Documentation

The documentation is also currently being updated to version 4. It can
be found at [9].
Switching to the new version
----------------------------
PHP 8.1 is now the oldest supported PHP version. PHP 8.2 and PHP 8.3 are
fully supported.
An update from 3.3.x to version 4.0.0 is possible. However, there are a
few steps to follow.
It is therefore essential that you read the document UPGRADING.md [10].
The migration guide in the documentation contains additional information
on updating to new versions [11]
