[Fundraising] A.W. Mellon Foundation funding

I guess we at the education committee would be interested in this. Exactly what
the project would do is, however, not immediately clear for me. They have a long
list of criteria, one of them is about financing the second version of an
existing system. At the iEMSs conference I was quite impressed what the
MapWindow-EPA project has achieved in linking online geodata to task
descriptions and to MapWindow. That looked very educational, i.e., something
that would be useful in classroom, to me. There is definitely a need for free
and open systems especially in online education, it is always a problem whether
students offcampus have access to certain proprietary products.
