Dear Stefan
as far as I know, the FOSS4G Europe was announced in the last FOSS4G in Nottingham, therefore is not a novelty.
The idea was to widen to all EU countries the successfull conferences that took place in Bucharest and in Prague.

I agree that for next years we can better armonize all the initiatives.
In any case having so many exciting conferences means that the success ot free and open source software for geospatial is increasing and that's wonderful!!!!

Oggetto: Re: [OSGeo-Edu] Meeting of ICA-OSGeo labs in Europe at FOSS4G-EU and Academic Track CfP

Hi all,

thanks for the announcement.

However, I am having a comment and/or a question: So we have now another
Foss4g-EU conference with a focus on research - what I understand from
the text below. OGRS (3rd conference on the topic) is doing the same,
also this year. So, isn't that a bit counter productive to make 2 FOSGIS
conferences in Europe with a science focus in the same year? I.e. it
would be better join efforts.

my 2 cents (from South America, though)
stefan
