> Having a look at the debian package, they use internal tiff and geotiff. Is there any criteria to chose one or the other? libtiff on CentOS 5 is quite old, would it make sense to use the internal one?

This was discussed some time ago:
http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/el/2010-October/thread.html#120
(see threads with bigtiff)

and Frank Warmerdam explicitly discouraged us to use the internal one:
http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/el/2010-October/000119.html

The conclusion of this discussion was that we should produce a
libtiff4 package and make sure that it can live along the base
libtiff.

As for epsilon, we need to have this library packaged as an RPM first.
I could not find it, neither in EPEL nor in Fedora.

Both are feasible but require some work (that is, packaging a related
dependency).

I'd be happy to integrate any contributed spec files / SRPM.

Cheers,

Mathieu
