[fdo-users] Newbe question

For now, I deselected the build options for Oracle and Arc (SDE). Build
seemed to go find and the preliminary testing was as expected. I noticed
that the Tomcat install was an option after it was too late (referenced
outside of the Ubuntu doc) so I am rebuilding the build_apt.sh with the
-with-tomcat switch. One more thing, is the management tool MapGuide
Studio (AutoDesk) for MGOS 2.0. I tried to connect with the MapGuide
Studio OS, but it did not work.
Building FDO and MGOS on a Linux platform is not for the faint of heart.
We currently use the Win version (Both commercial and OS) and it did not
seem to be a big deal. Anyway, thanks for everything, I am sure I will
have more questions.

Ah. That reference is stale. With Oracle having its own driver now,
the FDO ODBC driver supports only it. Some earlier code changes to make
sure that it worked with Easysoft are still there, but testing is only
done with the native Oracle driver.

Thanks... I believe you are correct. There is another reference (Linux
build document for FDO) to downloading and installing an Easysoft ODBC
Oracle driver building FDO. I will explore the build script.

Hi Ed,
The SL-King provider was added to the build after I wrote the
instructions, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work properly on
Linux, especially if you need to add the client + development libraries
before compiling.
If you don't need Oracle, you can choose which providers to build as an
argument to the build shell script (I think).

Ubuntu 7.10 FDO build 3.3.0 per instructions
Re: nohup ./build_linux.sh > build_linux.log
Lots of errors at end of build with Oracle API and King Spatial. Am I
missing something?
