That's great news. Do you know which revision or tag was used for this RC? Is it the same as shipped with MapGuide Open Source 2.0.2, or something later?
[RF] It represents 3.3_S039. The posting is directly related to MG 2.0.2.
A few things that I was wondering about for 3.4:
- Are there plans to add ArcSDE 9.3 support?
[RF] Yes. Work has already been done on the trunk.
- Can we look at upgrading to a later version of GDAL? 1.5 is mature. 1.6 is near Beta status, and includes support for Oracle GeoRaster which would be a huge win for FDO.
[RF] I'll leave that to Frank to answer.
- Will it be possible to include the SQLite provider in the default build?
[RF] Good idea. We will have to work with Traian on this.
I'd also really like to see the packaging for FDO done in a more transparent way so that we can generate nightly or weekly installer packages on an external system. I think that the current favoured proposal for MapGuide is to use native Visual Studio Setup Projects; could the same be done with FDO to create merge modules for each of the providers, and an overall setup project for FDO installs?
[RF] FDO use to have msi for the FDO sdk. It did include a merge module for each provider with a custom action to register the provider (and populate the providers.xml file). Application like MapGuide prefered to use the zipped version of the sdk (the one you can download), extract the binary files, create their own providers.xml and repackage it as part of their own install. So we kind of abandon the opensource version of the msi. If there is a need, we would have to look into how it can be resurrected.
