All,

As you will see from http://trac.osgeo.org/fdo/wiki/FDORfc42 the focus on
the provision of a non-ESRI-SDK provider was to create a geometry reader in
the same vein as the existing KingOracle (SDO) provider but support SDE
geometry where found.

Many full-provider capabilities were not included in the RFC though
schema/class level access is in there (Haris?) it's certainly a lot faster
connecting!

As always, funding for additional components to extend functionality and
benefit the community as a whole would be welcomed and reviewed.
