You should try:

connection->SetConnectionString(L" DefaultFileLocation=test.shp")

 

You can have a look at the SHP unit tests.

What is the format of the connection string for a shape file?

connection->SetConnectionString(L"SHPFile=test.shp")  doesn't seem to
