I've also heard back from John at the BGS, and they have yes 7th is ok, 
so I think that confirms the date - 7th Sept 2023.

I had this back from Martin Smye-Rumsby at RSPSoc about the conference 
dates - sounds very sensible:

" I think there will be an overlap to some extent as there are bound to 
be people in both communities of interest. Ideally, it would be 
preferable to have a bit of time between the events however I appreciate 
that there's so many other factors to consider that this often isn't 
possible (we've already had a keynote speaker decline due to school 
holiday childcare coverage). So I'd say go ahead with your plans, and 
perhaps we can do some mutual marketing? We've got some dates in mind 
already for RSPSosc 2024 so we'll get these out soonest to avoid 
potential clashes with others."

I didn't have a mailing list to hand for the FOSS4GUK23 team so please 
circulate if you think it's useful, or just add to your FOSS4GUK meeting 
notes if not :-)
