You could set up the holding pages on the OSGeo wiki, for one.

Do you think it would be difficult to start the foss4g2009
website?

As Gavin has mentioned - OCS is a multi conference system it is
therefore 'fairly' straightforward to set up the 09 site - this has
already been done to a degree but access is restricted

As we write about foss4g, it would be good if we could reference
the website by URL.

IMO what is required at the moment for 09 - more than a fully
functioning conference site is a holding page which includes the very
basic, info - the 09 brand, what, where and ideally a utility to
register interest and be kept uptodate - this wouldn't necessarily have
to use OCS - Gavin asked FrankW to register the domain, not sure where
this is at?

If the 09 domain is registered then it would be easy to create the
holding page outside of OCS and put in place a redirect

Cheers

Cameron FYI - looks like OCS is the path of choice for OSGeo.

I'm happy to see what I can tackle from the current list of
issues for the 2008 site and this will give us a heads up for the 2009
site.

Gavin has asked Frank to register the domain - you cool with
this?

	Cheers

Hi Simon, yes I've got your e-mails, thanks very much for
offering to help out.

Please use the wiki page that I see you've already looked at to
log other issues and progress towards resolving them and correspond with
Tyler Mitchell at OSGeo (OCS server admin) and Graeme McFerren, our
LOC's conference website manager. Anything you help out with for 2008
will directly improve things for 2009.

	  1. Frank, please register the 2009 domain. Yes it is the
intention
to host all conferences on the OSGeo conference domain. OCS
hosts multiple conferences within a conference series.
	  2. explained in previous e-mail. It has its limitations but
we'll
see soon whether it plays to its strengths in paper
submission
and review. You'll see when you login as a Conference
Manager
that 2009 already has a shell up.

	Cheers

	Hi Gavin,

You may have already received an email from me about my
involvement with FOSS4G 2009 - Cameron Shorter forwarded your details to
me. I've also posted to the 2009
<http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/foss4g2009/2008-April/000009.html>
mailing list

I want to look into the use of OCS for the 2009 website with a
view to getting the site up and running and perhaps addressing some of
the issues
<http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G2008_Committee_Issues#OCS_website_mana
gement>you've already raised? - Would you be able to set me off in the
right direction on the following:

	1. We'd like to register a domain (/http://www.foss4g2009.org/)/
<http://www.foss4g2009.org/%29/> for the 09 conference. The current
2008 site is a 'conferences' sub domain of the OSGeo site - is the
intention to host all conference sites on this sub domain?

	2. What is your general impression of OCS so far? What were the
reasons for going with OCS for the 2008 conference?

Any other info you think might be useful then let me know

	Cheers
