Hello list, hallo Liste,

The fact that I was only listening to the "closed mailing list" and a holiday in France made me a little absent until now, but over the last days I catched up with the current state-of-the-organization.
My first two, three, four, five cents bundled in one mail:

0. Preferably, count me in for PR & marketing related stuff.

5. Sorry, I can't attend next week in Bonn. Although the distance/travel time Amsterdam-Bonn is not the problem, it just doesn't fit into my agenda.
Hope to see you all in Como in july.

6. Hotel accommodation:
- In a local Dutch paper I read an article about http://www.basecamp-bonn.de/, which is an covered campsite, with 15 caravans, an VW transporter and 2 train sleeper wagons as accomodation.
- A total of 120 beds.
- Prices vary from 27 (single bed in a shared train compartment), 47 (private compartment in a train) to 74 euros (private double room in a caravan).
- It's situated next to the Bonnox hotel, which is already on the list Till submitted a week ago
- Perhaps even worth to rent the complete accommodation?
- (btw, I don't have anything to do with Basecamp-Bonn, it's just that'it's look so very cool, waht makes me excited about it!)

8. Logo:
- I like the idea of the river Rhine in the logo. Since no less than 9 countries are part of the Rhine basin, it's a good symbol for "connection"!
- The Siebengebirge-background is perhaps too much of an German incrowd addition; even as a frequent Bundesautobahn nrs. 3 und 61 -user I was until yesterday not aware of a Bonn-Siebengebirge link.
- Regarding colour: why not use the black-red-yellow of the German flag? It's well known. After all, you are holders of the World cup!)
- Since Bonn promotes itself as Germany's United Nations City, perhaps it would be nice to include a sort of reference to the UN logo.

Greetings from the Lowlands,

Gert-Jan
Chair of OSGeo.nl, the local Dutch chapter

Onderwerp: [FOSS4G2016] Update 01.06.2015

Hi list,

just to keep you up to date, I'll send some informations of what happened the past days.

1. Tomorrow we will have a visit inside IHK Bonn. They offer us a least
three rooms for workshops. Of course we will need ore, but if one
starts, I think it's easier to attract others to do the same ;-)

2. Wednesday we will have a visit inside the Botanical Garden and talk
with the garden's administration on how we can make our Ice Breaker
there and what must be done in advance.

3. Hinrich and me just decided to start the official "call for
Sponsoring" by September. So we will not come in competition with the
2015 conference but also start early enough to contact global players
this year.
We also talked about defining "special" packages like "Exclusive Ice
Breaker Sponsor" or "Exclusive Code Sprint Sponsor" that might attract
sponsors to deal with us early/(ier). We agreed that local sponsorship
aquisition might start earlier.

4. That means that our website should be up and running not later than
beginning of september. I will talk to the "Küstenschmiede"-guys end of
this month on the FOSSGIS hacking weekend. BTW @Jeff, I still have no
reaction on my OSGEO ticket regarding the URL:
https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/1492

5. Overall this gives us a time framework, we should work on on our
first FOSS4G meeting in Bonn next wednesday (10th of June in LUXX ...
broad hint ;-))

6. I asked at Bonn Tourismus GmbH for some more accommodations,
especially in the low-cost sector, as most of the rooms they pre-offered
via this list started at about 75 Euros. Torsten pointed me to that
(thanks for that).

So far, regards, Till
