Hi Bart,

I think every conference sponsorship prospectus offers the sponsorship
of certain events, so a company could pay for the lunch of a code
sprint, etc..

The Geocat developer award was maybe a very smart way of marketing,
but it didn't exclude any project.
But if you take for example the "Nasa World Wind Challenge", then I
would assume that to participate I need to make use of this software,
and that's the issue some have with the Geo4all challenge if it's
named after a project.

Maybe it's worth to think about, if an award or event needs to have
the sponsors name be a part of the title. I wouldn't be so excited
about a FOSS4G where we have the "Google Gala Dinner", an "ESRI Ice
Breaker" or a whatever else you can think of, especially if the
sponsorship amount is relatively low.

But I'm not against sponsors and awards!
