I think sooner is also alright. But when people check some time on May
1st, they'll see it :)

I'd compare it to late talk entries (and switching to our native
language). Would you say:

"Leider können wir keine Vorträge nach dem Abgabetermin annehmen" or
"Wir können keine Vorträge nach dem Abgabetermin annehmen" I find the
first one politer.
