Ah, thanks, i didn't see that.

Upon untarring, i do notice that the file ntv1_can.dat (1 MB!) is present in
both CVS and in proj-nad27-1.1.tar.gz.

Now (on Windows) i get the following:

\proj\src>nmake /f makefile.vc
[...]
Creating library proj_i.lib and object proj_i.exp
nad_init.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _emess
proj.dll : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

emess?
