[Gdal-dev] Error while loading shared libraries: libgdal.1.1.so

I've compiled the GDAL library with HDF4 support in Linux RedHat 8.0.
When I try to run any of the gdal apps. (e.g: gdal_info) I get this
error message:
"Error while loading shared libraries: libgdal.1.1.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory."

Seems like the make process is going as it is supposed to - no errors.

Any suggestions about what the problem might be?
