I think you asked about the autotest?  It seems I deleted your last reply
after a skim and now I remember there was another question.

The autotest is found in CVS and can be checked out using something like:

cvs -d <blah> co osrs/gdalautotest

It requires python, but otherwise should be runnable on Unix or Windows
if you have installed GDAL or ensured that the GDAL python module is
loadable within GDAL.  Just do something like this in the gdalautotest
directory:

   python run_all.py
