It is all the same for GDAL what compiler version will be used, bacause
GDAL comes with full source code. It is completely defined by the DSDK
binaries you have which you can't rebuild. The main problem is in API
version. GDAL currently supports MrSID DSDK 3.1.x and 3.2.x. Newest
version (4.0) are not supported yet due to completely different API.

There are was few fixes in that driver in GDAL 1.2.0.
