Yeah, it is using libtiff and geotiff externally from there separate build
directories.  Looks like there are a few issues with this.  It is no a show
stopper for me.  That is ok.

Ken / Dave,

I still have never seen this myself, and have no idea how to reproduce it.
Are you trying to use libtiff and libgeotiff directly from their build
directories?  This isn't a configure I really try to support these days.
