Hi Bill,

I *think* you would have to translate your tiff files first to compressed  
tiff using the -co option.

COMPRESS=[JPEG/LZW/PACKBITS/DEFLATE/NONE]

I don't think it is possible to do it in one step, but I could be wrong.
