Reinaldo,

I assume you mean other than Erdas Imagine?  GDAL utilities
will create them under some circumstances.  For instance, to
hold references to erdas style overviews.  But there is no
generalized support for writing .aux files in GDAL.   At the
API level it can be accomplished with the HFA API in
gdal/frmts/hfa.
