Hi Steve and Daniel,

ER Mapper is aware of the concerns of the OSS community about the
remaining restrictions in the license.  These restrictions are in
place for commercial reasons, of course.  They are always under review
but I can't say whether a change will occur in the near future.

In the meantime the R&D department is hoping OSS developers will still
appreciate the dissemination of a very useful chunk of code and
functionality at least largely into the public domain.  The current
license allows the free use of the complete functionality of the SDK
in any GPL software that is not "server software" (as described in the
EULA document).

The policy-makers here are working hard to strike a balance that will
be a win-win for ER Mapper and the free/open software community :)
