[Gdal-dev] how to uninstall gdal

Hi developers,

With all the love to gdal and high regards to the developers, I'm just 
curious to know how to uninstall gdal package once it is installed 
through ./configure, make, make install (as root). I'm not sure if I 
will ever need it, but it would be nice to know if this can be done or 
not. I tried "make uninstall", which did not work.

For the proj package, "make uninstall" seems working.

Appreciate if someone can drop a line or two. Thanks.
