[Gdal-dev] is that ecw format is really supported?

Tileindexes are always shapefiles, and they only contain references to
data (in the LOCATION field of the dbf), not the actual data.
Did you compile GDAL against the ECW SDK? Otherwise it can't read ECW
files. Or which binary version are you using?
