We talk about it a little bit in Mapping Hacks -
http://mappinghacks.com/ ...  My sense is that PROJ.4 (and therefore
GDAL) will happily play along with any ellipsoid model you give it.
The only trick you may have to overcome is that longitude on Mars is
traditionally given in the range 0 to 360 degrees, versus the -180 to
180 standard here on Earth.
