[Gdal-dev] delete features in shapefiles

Hi,

On page http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_shapefile.html I have read following:

"The OGR shapefile driver supports rewriting existing shapes in a
shapefile as well as deleting shapes."

But TestCapability() for shapefile layer doesn't report that deletion
of features is supported, I also couldn't find it in implementation.
Is the documentation wrong?
